Nanny Sought in Thefts From a Dozen Families
Police in several Bay Area counties are searching for a woman who they say has stolen at least $100,000 worth of goods and money from parents who had hired her as a nanny.
Investigators say that since 2000, Mariana Monticalvo, 45, has stolen money and property including traveler’s checks, credit cards, jewelry and computers from at least 12 families.
Monticalvo is wanted on at least six warrants issued in San Francisco, Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
Authorities in Marin and San Mateo counties also want to question her about alleged scams there.
