* McDonald’s Corp.’s Charlie Bell, who became chief executive of the world’s largest restaurant company last month when James Cantalupo died suddenly, has colorectal cancer. Bell’s surgery was successful and his recuperation is expected to be brief, Oak Brook, Ill.-based McDonald’s said. McDonald’s shares rose 20 cents to $27.81 on the NYSE.

* Citigroup Inc. said the Securities and Exchange Commission had opened an investigation into its Argentina business.
