From Times Wire Reports

As Councilman Terry Gregory denied wrongdoing in a conflict-of-interest scandal, new allegations surfaced that he received baseball tickets and accepted free meals from several developers.

The scandal erupted Monday when the San Jose Mercury News published allegations by Dennis Fong, a local developer, that Gregory pressured him into providing a case of wine and meals that together were worth thousands of dollars.

“I want to be very clear in my response to these allegations: I have not violated the law,” Gregory said at a news conference.

On Thursday, John DiNapoli, whose family owns hundreds of acres in Gregory’s district, told the Mercury News that he complied with a request from Gregory for four tickets to an Oakland A’s-New York Yankees game -- worth an estimated $90 -- in August. San Jose prohibits gifts to city officials worth more than $15.
