Rescuers will continue searching today for a teenager last seen Sunday when he went hiking on Mt. Baldy, authorities said.

Evgeniy Lushevskiy, 19, was reported missing by his parents Monday after he failed to return from his solo hike, said Sgt. Dennis Smith of the Claremont Police Department.

Lushevskiy and his parents, all originally from Russia, were visiting a friend who is a student at one of the Claremont Colleges, Smith said.

Authorities have been searching on the ground and with a helicopter, Smith said.

Lushevskiy was wearing a windbreaker and jogging pants. There was snow where he was last seen at the 8,800-foot elevation, Smith said. Temperatures around Mt. Baldy at that elevation have been about 32 degrees at night and 49 during the day, the National Weather Service said.

“We are concerned about the elements,” Smith said.
