Card Will Remain as Bush’s Chief of Staff

White House Chief of Staff Andrew H. Card Jr. will remain in the job and is expected to play a key role in shaping President Bush’s Cabinet for a second term, the White House said.

“The Chief,” as Card is known at the White House, served in the Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations.

Meanwhile, a Treasury Department official in charge of keeping tabs on the nation’s financial markets announced that he intended to leave his post at the end of December. Brian Roseboro, the department’s undersecretary for domestic finance, submitted a resignation letter to the president.
