Judge Denies New Trial for Adelphia Ex-Execs

A federal judge refused to overturn the fraud and conspiracy convictions of Adelphia Communications Corp. founder John Rigas and his son Timothy.

U.S. District Judge Leonard Sand denied a defense request to reverse the guilty verdicts and grant a new trial. The Rigases had argued that Manhattan federal prosecutors didn’t present enough evidence and that Sand made errors during the trial. They’re scheduled for sentencing Jan. 5.
