Reactor Expected to Return to Full Service
From Times Wire Reports
A reactor at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station was expected to return to full service today after an unexpected shutdown last week, a plant spokesman said.
Unit 2 shut down Friday after ground wires in an electrical generator shorted out. After the shutdown, neither of San Onofre’s reactors was operating, because the second unit was being refueled.
The shutdown prompted San Diego Gas & Electric Co., which operates the plant, to urge customers to conserve energy.
