KEYS TO THE GAME

Share

Gary Klein’s keys to the game, and how the Trojans measured up:

1. Stop the run. Ryan Grant gained 94 yards and Darius Walker had 64 as the Fighting Irish rushed for 195 yards. But the Trojans kept the duo out of the end zone and sacked Brady Quinn three times.

2. Protect Leinart. Quarterback Matt Leinart received five stitches in his chin at halftime but was otherwise unscathed and was sacked only once on the most productive night of his career.

3. Avoid turnovers. Leinart did not throw an interception and Reggie Bush recovered his own fumble, preventing the Fighting Irish from getting any easy opportunities.
