Getty’s a little childish
The Getty Center is packing up its togas and Trojan horses and hitting the road for a free family festival Saturday at Storyopolis. This first-ever “Getty 2 You” event brings elements from the museum’s monthly family series to locations around L.A.
Storyopolis will transform its store and courtyard area into a Grecian village to showcase the current Getty exhibition “Coming of Age in Ancient Greece: Images of Childhood From the Classical Past.”

Getty at Storyopolis -- The information text with an article in Thursday’s Calendar Weekend section about the “Getty 2 You” activities at Storyopolis said the event would occur Sunday. The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday.
Kids can craft handmade tambourines, build Trojan horses, participate in a paint-by-numbers mural and listen to live Greek music. Will & Company performs “The Odyssey,” and the troupe We Tell Stories presents its version of “The Truth About Medusa.”
Authors Jane Louis Curry and Kelaf Brown, with illustrator Michael Katz, bring Greek myths to life in a storytelling circle.
“I love these kinds of events,” Storyopolis owner Matthew Abramowitz says. “After kids have talked with an artist or illustrator, I often see them sneaking off to read.” “
