Getting it right
Thank you, David Shaw, for an insightful story about the sad decline of television news [“CBS Must Regain Courage in Wake of Rather Report,” Oct. 10]. Do we hold a memorial service for serious TV journalism? It certainly seems dead and buried. And local news? A joke. We only watch it to get an idea of what tomorrow’s weather may be.
However, it seems self-serving for the print media to keep lambasting their electronic sisters when newspapers print numerous errata every day. The “oops” columns range from the insignificant (a misspelling) to the major (misidentification of photos, major facts).
