* Santa Ana-based Corinthian Colleges Inc. said fiscal first-quarter profit fell 5.9% and second-quarter earnings would drop as the company spent more to boost enrollment amid federal investigations. Net income in the first quarter fell to $18.2 million, or 20 cents a share, from $19.4 million, or 21 cents, a year earlier.

* Oakley Inc. said third-quarter profit fell 16% on weak sunglasses revenue. Net income fell to $11.4 million, or 17 cents a share, from $13.5 million, or 20 cents, a year earlier, the Foothill Ranch-based company said. Sales rose 2.2% to $148.2 million.

* Visx Inc. said third-quarter net income more than doubled as revenue increased from licensing its new laser eye-surgery system. Earnings rose to $11.3 million, or 22 cents a share, from $4.87 million, or 10 cents, a year earlier. Sales fell 1.5% to $38.7 million.

* McKesson Corp., the San Francisco-based drug wholesaler, said fiscal second-quarter profit fell 45% to $86.1 million, or 29 cents a share, from $156.5 million, or 53 cents, a year earlier. Sales rose 19% to $19.9 billion.

* Edwards Lifesciences Corp. of Irvine said third-quarter profit fell as it took an acquisition-related charge. Net income was $12.4 million, or 20 cents a share, down from $24.5 million, or 40 cents, a year earlier. Sales rose 9.1% to $224.8 million. Excluding charges, Edwards earned 38 cents a share, led by strong sales of heart valves.

* Charlotte Russe Holding Inc., a San Diego-based retailer of clothes for young women, said fiscal third-quarter profit fell 44% to $3.2 million, or 13 cents a share, from $5.7 million, or 24 cents, a year earlier. Sales rose 12% to $138.3 million.

* Bebe Stores Inc., a Brisbane, Calif.-based young women’s apparel retailer, said earnings for its fiscal first quarter jumped 90% to $11.4 million, or 29 cents a share, compared with $6 million, or 15 cents, a year earlier. Sales increased 23.3% to $103.1 million.
