Paddy’s Daisy to Try Keeneland

Share

Paddy’s Daisy, who has won two of three on the turf, will make her Keeneland debut in today’s $100,000 Jesamine County.

An ungraded race for 2-year-old fillies at 1 1/16 miles, the Jesamine County also attracted Albany County, Our Miss Jones, Kristin’s Charm, Gentle Breeze, Bold Passage, Dependability and Berbatim.

Paddy’s Daisy, a daughter of King of Kings, began her career by finishing last as part of a favored entry going 5 1/2 furlongs on the Belmont Park main track on July 1.

Immediately switched to the grass, the chestnut filly beat maidens by five lengths at Saratoga, finished fourth in the Natalma, a Grade III at Woodbine, on Sept. 12, then won the Salem County on Oct. 2 at the Meadowlands.

Albany County, Kristin’s Charm and Gentle Breeze all have one victory on the grass. Our Miss Jones, Bold Passage, Dependability and Berbatim have never started on turf.

Race of the day: Alpenwald steps up in class in search of her third consecutive victory in today’s seventh at Santa Anita.

Claimed for $16,000 by trainer Doug O’Neill for a partnership, the 3-year-old Swiss Yodeler filly will be ridden by Martin Pedroza in the $41,000 allowance for California bred fillies and mares at 6 1/2 furlongs. Champ’s Rocket, Jennifers Dance, Desert Gal, who already has two victories at the Oak Tree meet, and Etch round out the small field.

One for the road: Its Tuesday, who does her best running from behind, could benefit from a hot pace in her Bay Meadows debut in today’s first. Miguel Perez will ride the 3-year-old Take Me Out filly for trainer Junior Coffey in the $8,000 claimer.

Exotically speaking: A pick four using Four Checker and West War in the fifth, La Danielle and Kalahari Cat in the sixth, Jennifers Dance and Etch in the seventh and Born Blonde and A New Leaf in the eighth.
