From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Vijay Singh made a 30-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole that changed everything Saturday in the Chrysler Championship in Palm Harbor, Fla. A tournament that for most of the day looked up for grabs now seems headed for a familiar conclusion.

Singh recovered from two early bogeys for a four-under 67, giving him a one-shot lead over Tommy Armour III. Singh, No. 1 in the world, has won five times in seven starts, and he has won 10 straight tournaments with at least a share of the 54-hole lead, dating to the MCI Classic three years ago. A victory today would be his ninth of the season and make him the first $10 million winner in golf.

Jesper Parnevik and Kirk Triplett were two shots back.

Government prosecutors in the BALCO steroids scandal unsealed evidence to bolster allegations against the personal trainer to San Francisco Giant star Barry Bonds.

In more than 200 pages of evidence that prosecutors unsealed and submitted to U.S. District Court in San Francisco, the government described its Sept. 3, 2003 raid of the home, car and computer of Greg Anderson, Bonds’ personal trainer and close friend.

Along with agents finding “steroids, syringes, documents and other paraphernalia,” the court filing said Anderson admitted to giving out steroids to “well-known players,” though the documents did not state that Bonds was one of them.
