17 Terrorism Suspects Will Remain in Custody

Singapore’s government said it had extended for two more years the detention of 17 alleged terrorists taken into custody in 2002 under the city-state’s Internal Security Act. Two other suspects were released, the Home Affairs Ministry said.

Since late 2001, Singapore has jailed without trial 37 alleged Islamic militants under the Internal Security Act, saying they were plotting attacks there.

Some cases were not up for their annual nonjudicial reviews.
