Infineon Technologies of Germany has agreed to plead guilty to charges of price fixing and pay a $160-million fine as part of a U.S. investigation into the computer memory chip industry, U.S. antitrust authorities said.

Infineon admitted to conspiring with unnamed chip manufacturers to fix the prices of dynamic random access memory, or DRAM, chips, the Justice Department said.

As part of the plea agreement, Infineon agreed to cooperate with the government’s industry investigation, which has spanned more than two years. Micron Technology Inc. of Boise, Idaho, and Samsung Electronics Co. of South Korea have acknowledged involvement in the probe.
