New Wager to Be Offered

Share

A new exotic wager is available at the Oak Tree meeting opening today at Santa Anita -- a $1 pick five.

The pick five will cover the final five races and there will be no carry-over.

The $75,000-added Sen. Ken Maddy Handicap, the opening day feature, is included in the pick five and the field for the Grade III includes defending champion Belleski, a 5-year-old Polish Numbers mare who was the 19-10 favorite when she won in 2003.

Unbeaten in four starts on the Santa Anita turf course, with three of the wins at today’s distance, about 6 1/2 furlongs, Belleski will be ridden by Corey Nakatani. She will be racing Acago, Navaja, Festival, Stormica, Polygreen, Fencelineneighbor, Bonaire, Lady Sabrina and Intercontinental. Stormica, Polygreen and Acago will be an entry in the wagering because of common ownership.
