Young treated for brain aneurysm

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Neil Young will miss a scheduled appearance Sunday at Canada’s Juno Awards in Winnipeg following what doctors say was successful treatment earlier this week for a serious brain aneurysm.

“I’m really disappointed that I won’t be able to make it to Winnipeg for the Junos as I had hoped,” the 59-year-old rocker said in a statement issued Friday. “I grew up there and was really looking forward to the show as well as spending some time with my old friends and family. Thanks to my doctors, I’m feeling a lot better now, so I hope I can get a rain check.”

Young began experiencing symptoms following his performance with the Pretenders on March 14 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. A subsequent MRI scan revealed the aneurysm.

“Mr. Young had a dangerous brain aneurysm and was treated successfully,” said Dr. Pierre Gobin at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. “He is now resting comfortably and has made a full recovery, but we strongly recommend that he not travel for several days.”
