County Vote a Victory for Pro-Growth Advocates

In a win for pro-growth advocates, the Monterey County Board of Supervisors has tentatively approved elimination of a 40-acre minimum for new subdivisions.
The board instructed county planners last week to delete the requirement and continue writing the blueprint for county growth. The 40-acre minimum in the general plan was opposed by pro-development groups, which said it stifled growth.
Environmental and community groups had fought to impose a 40-acre minimum to prevent what they called “leapfrog” development.
