Taking Environmental Concerns Seriously

Share

Re “The End Is Nigh ... Again,” editorial, April 5: I’m disappointed in your editorial reaction to the latest report on the planet’s health. You sound more like “let’s stick our heads in the sand and rely on technology,” than someone who has really listened to what the scientists and others have been saying. Most experts seem to say that we’d better take care of our planet or we won’t have a planet to take care of.

When it comes to having a place in the universe habitable to our species and other living species (which seems to be rather rare), isn’t it better to err on the side of caution?

I was delighted and relieved to read that Malthus was wrong and that overpopulation has not led to widespread undernourishment and starvation in our modern world. Those darned pessimists.
