Hundreds Flee Homes as Volcano Spews Ash

A volcano spewed ash and dark smoke on the main island of the Comoros archipelago, prompting hundreds of people to flee their homes.
The 7,746-foot Mt. Karthala, one of two active volcanoes on Grand Comore, last erupted in July 1991. No one was killed. It erupts about every 11 years.
