The Defense Department last week also identified the following U.S. military personnel killed in Iraq and Kuwait:
Kelly M. Cannan, 21, of Lowville, N.Y.; corporal, Marine Corps. Cannan was one of two Marines killed Wednesday when an improvised explosive device detonated during combat operations in Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton. As part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was attached to the 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).
Gavin J. Colburn, 20, of Frankfort, Ind.; private first class, Army Reserve. Colburn died Friday along a supply route in Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated near his convoy vehicle. He was assigned to the 542nd Transportation Company in Kingsbury, Ind.
Tyler J. Dickens, 20, of Columbus, Ga.; corporal, Army. Dickens died April 12 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio of injuries suffered April 6 when his guard tower caught fire in Mahmudiya, Iraq, south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment at Ft. Irwin, Calif.
James C. Edge, 31, of Virginia Beach, Va.; captain, Marine Corps. Edge was killed April 14 when he was attacked with small-arms fire in Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton. As part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was attached to the 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).
Aaron M. Hudson, 20, of Highland Village, Texas; private, Army. Hudson died April 16 in Baghdad of injuries suffered the day before when an improvised explosive device detonated near his patrol in Camp Taji, Iraq. He was assigned to the 401st Military Police Company, 720th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade at Ft. Hood, Texas.
Sam W. Huff, 18, of Tucson; private first class, Army. Huff died Monday of injuries suffered the day before when an improvised explosive device detonated near her Humvee in Baghdad. She was assigned to the 170th Military Police Company, 504th Military Police Battalion, 42nd Military Police Brigade at Ft. Lewis, Wash.
Joseph L. Knott, 21, of Yuma, Ariz.; private, Army. Knott was killed April 17 when his convoy was attacked with small-arms fire and an improvised explosive device in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment at Ft. Carson, Colo.
Angelo L. Lozada Jr., 36, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; sergeant, Army. Lozada was among three soldiers killed April 16 when a car bomb exploded in Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Hovey, South Korea.
Marty G. Mortenson, 22, of Flagstaff, Ariz.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Mortenson was one of two Marines killed Wednesday when an improvised explosive device detonated during combat operations in Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton. Jacob M. Pfister, 27, of Buffalo, N.Y.; specialist, Army. Pfister was one of two soldiers killed Tuesday when a car bomb exploded near their dismounted patrol in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.
Aleina Ramirez Gonzalez, 33, of Hormigueros, Puerto Rico; specialist, Army. Ramirez Gonzalez was killed April 15 in a mortar attack in Tikrit, Iraq. She was assigned to the 3rd Brigade Troop Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.
Steven F. Sirko, 20, of Portage, Ind.; private first class, Army. Sirko died April 17 of noncombat-related injuries in Muqdadiya, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Benning, Ga.
Randy L. Stevens, 21, of Swartz Creek, Mich.; specialist, Army. Stevens was among three soldiers killed April 16 when a car bomb exploded in Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Hovey, South Korea.
Steven W. Thornton, 46, of Eugene, Ore.; major, Army. Thornton died Monday when he collapsed during physical training at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. He was assigned to the Army Communications-Electronics Command at Ft. Monmouth, N.J.
Tromaine K. Toy Sr., 24, of Eastville, Va.; sergeant, Army. Toy was among three soldiers killed April 16 when a car bomb exploded in Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Hovey, South Korea.
