Man, 58, Is Charged With Molesting Boys
A man was charged Tuesday with molesting young boys and teenagers over a 25-year period, officials said.
Charles P. Weinberg, 58, had been arrested Friday after five people told detectives he had assaulted them at his home and at a hotel beginning in the early 1980s, Sgt. Paul Wolcott said.
The alleged victims, all males, were 10 to 17 at the time, and the most recent assault allegedly took place last week, he said.
Police were also investigating whether Weinberg stole antiquities from archeological sites. During a search of his apartment, police said, they found amulets and pottery. Weinberg told police he stole the artifacts while on digs with the University of Chicago, according to Wolcott.
