Bus Driver, Conductor Arrested in Deadly Crash
From Times Wire Reports
Authorities in Sri Lanka have arrested the driver and conductor of a bus that was dashing through a railroad crossing when it was hit by a train and burst into flames.
Officials originally had said at least 50 people were killed in the accident near Alawwa but lowered the number to 35, all aboard the bus. Sixty people were injured.
“Our initial investigation suggests that two buses were competing with each other to reach Colombo faster,” police spokesman Rienzie Perera said.
