Man Arrested in Rapes of 2 Neighbors
A Costa Mesa man was arrested on suspicion of raping two women, ages 49 and 65, who lived in his apartment complex, police said Monday.
Jose Fernandez Lopez, 32, was being held at Orange County Jail on $250,000 bail in the September 2004 and May 2005 attacks.
Fernandez Lopez and the women lived in the 600 block of Baker Street, police said.
Police said Fernandez Lopez was arrested after they obtained DNA samples from men living in the complex and found that his bore a strong resemblance to samples taken from the crime scenes.
