DMV Workers Charged in Bribery Scheme

Four Department of Motor Vehicles employees have been charged in a bribery scheme to provide driver’s licenses and state identification cards to illegal immigrants and others, according to federal prosecutors.

The federal grand jury indictments were unsealed Thursday.

DMV workers Frances Aliganga, 53, of Fairfield and Brachelle Fifer, 43, Leneka Pendergrass, 27, and Stephanie Denise Davis, 37, all of Oakland, are accused of various counts of conspiracy and mail fraud.

About 200 fraudulent licenses and ID cards were issued, according to the indictment.
