Sigel freed from N.J. prison

Rapper Beanie Sigel was released from a New Jersey prison Tuesday morning after serving nine months of a one-year sentence on gun possession charges. The Philadelphia native was escorted from the Federal Correctional Institution in Fairton, N.J., by his mother and his fiancee and was met about half a mile away by a group of family, friends and supporters before heading to Philadelphia in a black tour bus.

Sigel, whose album “The B. Coming” entered the national sales chart at No. 3 in April, won’t waste any time getting back to work. He’ll perform at New York’s Club Exit on Tuesday, kicking off a tour to promote the new DVD “The B. Coming of Beanie Sigel,” which includes uncut versions of three shows that aired on BET documenting his early life, his trial and his efforts to finish his album before starting his sentence.
