Leftist Rebels Said to Kill 40 Soldiers

Communist rebels killed at least 40 Nepalese soldiers in the last two days in fierce clashes in the country’s remote mountainous northeast, Nepal’s army announced.
The soldiers, among about 200 troops at an army base camp, appeared to have been lined up and shot in the head, the army said.
Rebels said 26 of their fighters were killed.
