Man Charged in Firing at Car With Noisy Alarm

A man accused of shooting at a car in an attempt to shut off its alarm was charged Thursday with felony vandalism.
David Owen Rye, 48, was also charged with a single count of possessing a loaded firearm in public, a misdemeanor. Rye’s arraignment hearing in Ventura County Superior Court was continued to Aug. 25.
If convicted on both counts, Rye, a seafood manager for a Ralphs supermarket in Newbury Park, could face a maximum of four years in prison and fines up to $10,000.
