Councilwoman Pleads Not Guilty in Drug Case
Councilwoman Stacey Jo Murphy pleaded not guilty Thursday to a felony charge of possession of cocaine and misdemeanor child endangerment.
Murphy, 47, a former mayor of Burbank, was ordered to return to court Sept. 28, when a date will be set for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence for her to stand trial.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Janice Croft released Murphy on her own recognizance. Bail had been set at $100,000.
Murphy was arrested July 13 after her home was searched in an investigation of a street gang.
