Chris Henderson scored in the 34th minute, and the Columbus Crew earned its first road win of the season, 1-0, over the Kansas City Wizards on Friday night.

Kansas City had its four-game winning streak stopped and dropped to 11-6-8 with 41 points, leaving the Wizards one point behind the New England Revolution in the Eastern Conference.

Columbus, which is last in the conference with 27 points, improved to 8-12-3.

Henderson, who played for the Wizards from 1998 to 2000, scored midway through the first half. Taking a pass from Kyle Martino, Henderson drove into the right corner of the Wizards’ penalty area, turned on defender Jimmy Conrad and scored with a hard right-footed shot from 13 yards that ricocheted off the left post and into the net.
