Put burden on parents
Re “The NBA’s bling ban: looking good,” Current, Nov. 27
Gary Phillips needs to watch the old TV commercial in which former NBA star Charles Barkley asserts that he is not a role model. Professional athletes are entertainers and should not be forced to wear the business-casual attire that is favored by “upscale white men” or be “inspiring” off the court. What does that mean? How about parents taking care of their own kids instead of looking to athletes to provide inspiration.
