Central African Republic told radio and TV stations to stop airing songs that encourage men to dump their wives, saying such music hinders national development.

“It’s out of the question that music of misogynist character should be allowed to ride roughshod over questions of equality and the respect of the Central African woman,” a Communications Ministry official said.

Polygamy is legal in the former French colony, with men allowed to have up to four wives.
