Mugabe Lashes Out Over Envoy’s Criticism
From Times Wire Reports
President Robert Mugabe called a United Nations envoy a liar for his criticism of humanitarian conditions in Zimbabwe.
U.N. Emergency Relief Coordinator Jan Egeland this week expressed alarm about massive food shortages and an AIDS epidemic.
Egeland also criticized a so-called urban renewal drive that has destroyed the homes or livelihoods of an estimated 700,000.
“He’s a ... hypocrite and a liar,” Mugabe said at a party conference in Esigodini.
