The parent controls the television remote
Re “Cable TV Pressured to Clean Up
Offerings,” Dec. 9
I have devised a foolproof method to be sure my children are not exposed to sex, drugs, violence or any other unseemly behavior while watching television. I monitor what my children watch on TV, and I manage to do this without the cable companies or the Federal Communications Commission prying into my viewing habits.
I find it reprehensible that FCC Chairman Kevin J. Martin is trying to use my children to promote censorship and undercut the 1st Amendment.
I’ll take care of raising my children. Do they really believe that parents who don’t take the time to monitor what their children are watching will pore over an a la carte list of channels to determine which are suitable for their family?
If they do believe this, it is either stupidity or wishful thinking of the highest order.
