From Times Wire Reports

An actor who once played an aspiring mobster on “The Sopranos” will be charged with murder along with another man in the death of an off-duty New York City police officer, authorities said.

The policeman allegedly caught actor Lillo Brancato Jr., 29, and Steven Armento, 48, breaking into a home Saturday. A gunfight ensued. Officer Daniel Enchautegui, 28, shot each suspect several times, police said, but suffered a fatal chest wound.

Brancato and Armento remained hospitalized in critical condition.

Prosecutors were in the process of charging Armento with first- and second-degree murder and Brancato with seconddegree murder, Bronx district attorney’s spokesman Steven Reed said.
