‘Arrested’ may move from Fox

Fans of Fox’s “Arrested Development” take heart: While it remains unclear if the critically acclaimed but low-rated comedy will return to the network for a fourth season next year, the show with Jason Bateman and Jeffrey Tambor may find a home somewhere else.

Showtime and ABC have both expressed interest in picking up the program, confirmed Chris Alexander, a spokesman for 20th Century Fox Television, which produces “Arrested Development.”

The negotiations with the two networks began when Fox cut back its order for this season from 22 episodes to 13, allowing the studio to shop the program around. At this point, Showtime is the “front-runner” in snagging the quirky comedy, Alexander said, but it’s too soon to tell what will happen. Representatives for Fox and Showtime declined to comment. An ABC spokeswoman confirmed that the network has expressed interest in the show, but declined to comment any further.
