Boat Carrying Migrants Goes Down; 30 Drown

Thirty migrants drowned over the weekend when their boat sank as it headed for Spain’s Canary Islands, port sources in the Mauritanian port of Nouadhibou said.
Most of the dead were believed to be Mauritanian nationals, although they included two Senegalese, the sources said, adding that Mauritania’s coast guard rescued 14 people. It was not clear why the boat sank.
