3 Youngsters Killed in Houston Apartment Fire

Flames raced through the second floor of a Houston apartment complex, killing three young siblings who were found huddled in a back bedroom. Two others were saved from the fire, officials said.
The victims, ages 2, 6 and 7, died at a hospital. The children’s mother rescued a 9-year-old and a 1-year-old but could not save the three others.
“The neighbors heard the mother screaming for help,” Fire Department Capt. Gilbert Bennett said.
The cause of the blaze remained under investigation.
