Chris Osgood stopped 27 shots, and Henrik Zetterberg had a goal and two assists to send the Detroit Red Wings to their fourth straight victory, 4-1, over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night at Dallas.

Mikael Samuelsson, Tomas Holmstrom and Kirk Maltby also had goals for the Red Wings in the first meeting of the season between the Western Conference rivals.

Osgood improved to 24-9-1 against Dallas.

Marty Turco, recovering from flu, made 20 saves for the Stars, who had won 17 of 22. Turco has never beaten the Red Wings in 10 meetings.

Jaroslav Svoboda scored for the Stars, whose last win over the Red Wings was Jan. 16, 2002.

The Stars have won only one of their last 11 home games against the Red Wings. The four meetings in the 2003-04 season ended in ties.

Dallas had nine of the game’s first 11 shots, but Osgood held the Stars scoreless with a series of tough saves.

Detroit notched the first goal with the aid of Turco’s turnover on a clearing pass. Zetterberg intercepted the puck along the right boards and passed to a cutting Samuelsson, who sent a one-timer past Turco at 8:34 of the first period.

Dallas tied it when Niklas Hagman passed from his knees to Svoboda, who one-timed a shot from the right circle by Osgood at 16:49.

Boston 4, Washington 3 -- Brad Stuart’s goal 2:02 into overtime lifted the Bruins, who scored twice within a minute late in regulation to tie it in a victory over the Capitals at Washington.

Washington rookie Alexander Ovechkin’s 21st goal gave the Capitals a 3-1 lead with 8:13 left in regulation, but the Bruins rallied with two goals in the next 59 seconds. Quick puck movement around the crease set up Marco Sturm’s 11th goal, and Sergei Samsonov got his 15th by skating in front of the crease and deking Olie Kolzig before going to his backhand for the point-blank shot.

Toronto 3, Pittsburgh 2 -- Tomas Kaberle sent a wrist shot past Marc-Andre Fleury to give the Maple Leafs an overtime victory at Pittsburgh over the Penguins, who lost their fifth in a row.

Toronto has won three straight, but Pittsburgh is going in the opposite direction.

The Penguins are 0-4, with two overtime losses, since Michel Therrien replaced fired coach Eddie Olczyk on Dec. 15 and they have been defeated in 12 of 13.

Nashville 4, Calgary 3 -- Scottie Upshall’s tiebreaking goal with 6:47 left lifted the Predators over the Flames at Calgary, Canada, to extend their winning streak to six games.

Nashville trailed 2-0 in the first period and 3-2 heading into the third. Jerred Smithson tied it at 8:46.

Calgary, which had won two straight, held a two-goal lead after the first period on goals by Dion Phaneuf and Marcus Nilson.
