High-velocity cabaret

Few acts coax as much theatricality from their show as the Boston duo the Dresden Dolls, which operates in the space where performance art meets punk rock. With their Weimar-era get-ups and overwrought stage chops, pianist Amanda Palmer and drummer Brian Viglione take cabaret on a bender, playing Palmer’s confessionals at breakneck speed. With a follow-up to their 2004 debut in the works and a DVD just released, the Dolls would fit in a turn-of-the-20th century dive. This week, the Fonda Theatre will have to do.

The Dresden Dolls, Henry Fonda Theatre, 6126 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood. 8 tonight. $22.50. (323) 464-0808.
