Pianists highlight 2005-06 season

Celebrity pianists Martha Argerich and Krystian Zimerman and up-and-coming French violinist Renaud Capucon will highlight the Philharmonic Society of Orange County’s 2005-06 season.
Argerich will play Prokofiev’s Third Piano Concerto with the Los Angeles Philharmonic led by Charles Dutoit at the Orange County Performing Arts Center on March 16, 2006. Zimerman will play a recital of works to be announced at the Irvine Barclay Theatre on April 21.
Capucon will appear twice at the Performing Arts Center. He will play Korngold’s Violin Concerto with the Bruckner Orchestra Linz directed by Dennis Russell Davies on Nov. 16, 2005. He will return Jan. 15, 2006, to play Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with the Budapest Festival Orchestra led by Ivan Fischer.
Other visiting orchestras include the National Symphony led by Leonard Slatkin (Oct. 21), the BBC Scottish Symphony led by Ilan Volkov (Oct. 30) and the London Philharmonic led by Kurt Masur (March 19, 2006). The Vienna Choir Boys will sing Oct. 25.
