Jet That Crashed Showed No Sign of Ice on Wings, Investigators Say
Investigators said Thursday they had found no evidence of ice on the wings of a corporate jet that skidded off a runway, crossed a busy highway and slammed into a warehouse.
Investigators interviewed two employees of a company that services jets at Teterboro Airport and a pilot who was waiting to take off behind the jet that crashed Wednesday. None saw any evidence of ice on the wings or other surfaces of the plane, the National Transportation Safety Board said.
The NTSB recovered about 10 seconds of data from the plane’s flight data recorder, board member Debbie Hersman said.
Investigators plan to interview the pilot of the jet today and the co-pilot as soon as possible. Both remained hospitalized in fair condition Thursday, and a passenger in one of two cars smashed by the plane remained in critical condition.
