Garcia, Dragons Get Past Dallas

Aaron Garcia threw five touchdown passes to lead the New York Dragons to a 55-45 victory over the Dallas Desperados on Sunday in front of a record crowd of 14,925 at the Nassau Coliseum in Hempstead, N.Y.

The Dragons broke the franchise attendance record of 12,985 set against Columbus on March 20, 2004.

Garcia completed 18 of 34 passes for 212 yards, and Mike Horacek had five catches for 97 yards and three touchdowns for the Dragons (1-0).

Will Holder returned a kickoff 54 yards for a touchdown early in the second quarter, and caught a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to give the Dragons a 48-38 lead.

Clint Stoerner completed 20 of 33 passes for 233 yards and four touchdowns for the Desperados (1-1).

Tampa Bay 62, Austin 45 -- Shane Stafford threw seven touchdown passes and ran for another score to lead the Storm at Tampa, Fla. Stafford completed 20 of 30 passes for 278 yards.

Lawrence Samuels had seven catches for 139 yards and a touchdown, and Clif Dell had six receptions for 68 yards and four touchdowns for the Storm (2-0).

John Fitzgerald threw six touchdown passes for the Wranglers (0-2).

Chicago 51, Philadelphia 41 -- Raymond Philyaw completed 20 of 29 passes for 177 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Rush at Rosemont, Ill.

Henry Douglas and Etu Molden each had two touchdown catches for the Rush (1-1).

Former Avenger quarterback Tony Graziani, who passed for 352 yards and eight touchdowns in a season-opening victory over Austin, completed 19 of 32 passes for 226 yards and six touchdown passes for the Soul (1-1).
