A tow truck operator and his 17-year-old assistant were arrested on suspicion of child endangerment in Garden Grove after towing away a car with a sleeping 4-year-old inside, a police spokesman said Friday.

The child was not harmed.

Hinh Van Nguyen, 33, and the unidentified assistant “were clueless about the child” in the front seat when they arrived at the tow yard late Thursday, Sgt. Mark Byrne said.

The mother, whose name was not released, had left the child in the car while unloading groceries at the Acacian Apartments on Laurel Street.

Always Towing company has a contract with the apartment’s managers to remove illegally parked cars, Byrne said.
