Pipe Bomb Attached to Propane Tank Fails
From Times Staff Reports
Workers at an industrial park discovered a pipe bomb attached to a 55-gallon propane tank Monday that had been ignited but failed to detonate, police said.
The 6-inch pipe packed with explosive powder was discovered shortly before 7:45 a.m. in a warehouse at 1301 Burton St., Sgt. Steve Matson said. A trail of flammable liquid leading to the tank had been lighted in an unsuccessful attempt to detonate the bomb.
