Illegal immigrants are not entitled to obtain driver’s licenses in Iowa, the state Supreme Court ruled in Des Moines.

The court upheld a Polk County District Court judge’s ruling in a lawsuit that said the state’s policy violated immigrants’ rights to equal protection under the U.S. Constitution.

“We conclude that the practice of denying driver’s licenses to illegal aliens violates none of the statutory and constitutional provisions raised by the classes,” the Supreme Court ruling said.
