Suspect in Workplace Shooting Is Arraigned

A worker at a paper plant in a Detroit suburb charged with shooting the supervisor who had just fired him and killing a co-worker who tried to translate was ordered held without bail.
Gustabo DeJesus Vanegas, 31, was charged with first-degree murder of the translator, assault with intent to murder his former boss and using a gun in a felony in Friday’s violence, police Sgt. Mary Sclabassi said.
At his arraignment Sunday, Vanegas asked for a court-appointed lawyer.
