* Staples Inc. said fourth-quarter earnings rose 19% after it pushed digital cameras during the holidays and increased sales to businesses. Net income climbed to $251.3 million, or 50 cents a share, from $211.9 million, or 42 cents, a year earlier. Revenue climbed 13% to $4.08 billion.

* IHOP Corp. of Glendale said fourth-quarter net income rose 19% to $10.5 million, or 52 cents a share, from $8.8 million, or 41 cents, a year earlier. Total revenue fell 8.1% to $94.4 million. Same-store sales increased 4.3%.

* Ingram Micro Inc. of Santa Ana said fourth-quarter net income rose 71% as sales in Europe surged and small businesses improved their computer networks. Net income rose to $79.2 million, or 48 cents a share, from $46.4 million, or 30 cents, a year earlier. Sales rose 10% to $7.45 billion.

* Costa Mesa-based Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, formerly ICN Pharmaceuticals Inc., reported a fourth-quarter profit of $3 million, or 3 cents a share, compared with a loss of $1.8 million, or 2 cents, a year earlier. Revenue rose 7% to $188 million.

* The mega-merger between casino giant MGM Mirage Inc. and Mandalay Resort Group cleared its final hurdle in Nevada when the state Gaming Commission approved the deal, which would consolidate control of 11 resorts on the Las Vegas Strip.

* Discount carrier JetBlue Airways confirmed plans to launch nonstop flights between Bob Hope Airport in Burbank and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on May 24.
