The Orange County district attorney’s office filed charges Friday against a former Irvine police officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman driver.
David Alex Park, 29, of Lake Forest was charged with one felony count of sexual penetration with a foreign object while threatening to use the authority of a public official and two felony counts of sexual battery. He turned himself in Friday at Orange County Jail before posting $100,000 bail.
An officer for three years, Park stopped serving this month after Irvine police conducted an investigation. It is unclear whether he quit or was fired.
He is accused of following a woman in his patrol car as she left her job as a dancer at a Lake Forest strip club Dec. 14. He allegedly stopped her in Laguna Beach, touched her sexually and threatened her with arrest if she refused to fondle him, court documents show.
The woman has filed a $10-million civil suit against Irvine.
