From Times Wire Reports

Supporters of the left-leaning Democratic Revolution Party rose up as a new mayor was about to take office in a southern Mexican town, seizing City Hall and briefly holding 39 people hostage, authorities said.

At least 150 protesters threw rocks, used metal poles to fight with police and set fire to cars on Saturday in San Blas Atempa in Oaxaca state. They sought to stop the swearing-in of Eliseo Reyes of the Institutional Revolutionary Party.

The mob set the mayor’s office ablaze and took the hostages. Police later talked protesters into freeing the hostages and made four arrests.
